OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would i figure it out with this cite? thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think 2,4,6,10,16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks @wakeboarder I will try that. How did you figure it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used the formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It wasnt it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a_1 = 1, it tells us that a_2 = 4* a_1 - 1 ----> a_2 = 4-1 so a_2 = 3 a_3 = 4* a_2 - 1 ----> a_3 = 12 - 1 so a_3 = 11 a_4 = 4 * a_3 - 1 ---> a_4 = 44 - 1 so a_4 = 43 a_5 = 4 * a_4 - 1 ----> a_5 = 172 - 1 so a_5 = 171 so the first 5 numbers in the sequence would be 1, 3, 11, 43, 171

your arithmetic sequence calculator that you linked does not work for this problem because the sequence is not arithmetic, it's recursive
