Help please i'm not sure what it's asking for. Which set is closed under the operation multiplication? A. {1, 2} B. {1, 2, 3} C. {0, 1, 2} D. {1}

I believe it's D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you can you tell me how you got that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you try multiplying the highest # by itself, that answer will determine whether it's closed or not closed. For example, D your going to multiply 1x1 and you get 1. With A, multiply 2x2 and you get 4, but 4 is not in there, just 1 and 2. That's why A wouldn't be closed.

???

i get it now thank you!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you multiply 2 #'s from a closed set, the answer is in the set. So A is not closed because 2x2=4 and 4 isn't in the set.

Does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you

Your welcome (:
