A Pool In The Shape of a square of sides 57 feet. What is its hypotenuse ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure its a square? When I think hypotenuse I think triangle.....

OpenStudy (selena2345):

yes @NERD85176

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interesting........ and uh well I sorry but I cant help you... if it was a triangle I could sorry!

OpenStudy (selena2345):

ok @NERD85176

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wish i could help but i suck at this stuff

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes, this is a square pool; each side is 57 feet long. Either diagonal will divide the square into two triangles, isosceles triangles (two sides of equal length). To find the length of the diagonal of the square, find the length of the hypotenuse of one of the triangles you created by drawing a diagonal. Can you think of the name of the Theorem you need to use to do that?

OpenStudy (selena2345):

pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. the 2 equal sides have lengths 57 feet. What is the length of the hypotenuse (which is the length of the diagonal of the square pool)?

OpenStudy (selena2345):

57

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow good job man

If it's a math question, please post it separately, Selena.

OpenStudy (selena2345):

its 2 more questions left @mathmale

OpenStudy (selena2345):

Find the height of an equilateral triangle whose sides measures 56 cm. @ShadowLegendX

OpenStudy (selena2345):

this is the question i need help in @ShadowLegendX

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Mind posting these as new questions, Selena?

OpenStudy (selena2345):
