Help, fan and medal The perimeter of a rectangular garden is 72 ft. The length is 23 ft. What is the width? It may help to either sketch this problem out or use the perimeter of a rectangle formula

OpenStudy (mckennarian):

72- (23)(2) / 2 = x x= 2.16

So wait, 72- 23*2/2=2.16 Im sorry I don't really understand..

OpenStudy (mckennarian):

You take the perimeter, which is the distance around. There is a length and a width, The length is on both sides, so you take 23 and multiply it by two. That equals 46. 72 - 46 is 26. Since the width is on both sides, 26 divided by two is 13 I meant 13 not 2.16, sorry

Oh ok, thanks a lot. I thought it was 36 ^_^
