12^(y-2)=20

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

12^(y-2)=20 hit both sides with log. (y-2) log(12) = log(20) y-2= log(20)/log(12) y-2= log(base 12) 20 y=2+log(base 12) 20

Thanks @solomonZelman i was also wondering how to do that :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anytime :)

what do i do after the second step im lost

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

we are dividing both sides by log(12) then we use the rule \[\frac{\log(a)}{\log(c)}=\log_{~c}a\] then add 2 to both sides

thanks
