Population decrease does not increase demand for food. Dosn't matter when or where. Number 2 is just silly. Number 4 sounds plausible. But IR factoryies did not require highly skilled labout. Your best answer is 3. The factories attracted lots of workers and their families. Large citiies grew larger and had to figure out what to do with all the waste produced.
