What is the ThOD of the following chemicals? Show the balanced stoichiometric equation with your work: a. 5 mg/L C3H7 b. 0.5 mg/L C6Cl5OH !Consider the following equation for the above chemical: C6Cl5OH + O2 + H2O —-> CO2 + HCl c. 1 mg/L C12H10

anyone?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

ThOD = theoretical oxygen demand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (aaronq):

okay, so write balanced equations for the reactions, make a ratio involving the moles of the hydrocarbon, moles oxygen and their respective coefficients (from the balanced equation). \(\dfrac{n_{hydrocarbon}}{a}=\dfrac{n_{O_2}}{b}\) now you wanna plug the moles of \( C_3H_7\), but youre given a concentration. Do you know the total volume of the system, or do they want your answer in terms of concentration as well?
