Algebra 2 Help! Will medal for answer!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Functions f(x) and g(x) are shown below: f(x) g(x) f(x) = -4(x - 6)2 + 3 g(x) = 2 cos(2x - π) + 4 Using complete sentences, explain how to find the maximum value for each function and determine which function has the largest maximum y-value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first to test plug in values for the equations In the first it looks like 3 is the max value since any other value will yield a negative number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that the answer or what I need to do to get to the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fofr the second you want the cos to be equal to 1 so the max value will be 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the answer. try to understand it though so you can extrapolate a more detailed answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need an answer for it overall so I can be done with the lesson

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for f(x) and g(x) 3 and 6 are the maximum values respectively, but you need to understand why that is the case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry @kamakishi not going to be that easy. I'm not going to do your homework, but I've given you the major part of the answer which if you read what I've wrote you will be able to understand why 3 and 6 are the maximum values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, thanks anyways :( Will medal though still for the help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check my 2 first posts and you will be able to formulate a better answer as to why from them
