How does the poem "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" describes artists and creators? A. as people who captured and expressed the glory of the "sun in flight" B. as people who worked hard at "frail deeds" to help others C. as people who cried "fierce tears" over suffering in the world D. as people who are wise enough to know that that "dark is right" I think A. http://www.poetryfoundation.org/poem/175907

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's actually D, since the artists and poets are 'wise men' whose 'words forked no lightening'. It wouldn't be A since the artists and poets wouldn't be 'wild men'

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

I was wondering either A or D... but I really don't get the question, can you explain the question and I might get a clearer explanation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you know they depict four types of men right? Wise, Good, Wild, and Brave.

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Yep, I caught all that.

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

So your saying that wise men describe any artist and creators?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then of the four, which could describe creative people who use their minds? Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying :)

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Aha, I get it now! But what do they mean that wise people know that "dark is right"? It says something like that in the poem, what does it mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not very good in poetry sections, but everyone is entitled to their own interpretations. So I'd say that the meaning is that the dark, which is death, is coming for them, and they understand that it is their time (to die). But they still don't want to go, but they understand they need to. Just like the good men fear they have not done enough for the world or how the wild men never took the time to appreciate the world

OpenStudy (lovelyanna):

Mmm, now that makes perfect sense. I never thought that "dark is right" would mean what you just said. Thanks for your help :)
