Why would scientists want to use a universally accepted scientific name for a species, over a common name?

So that it would be easier and convenient to communicate the names with scientists all around the world

it's the same with everything else, too. in math it's numeral symbols, in chemistry it's the abbreviation of the elements, as well as symbols for units etc.

Also, scientific names of species are way more precise than common names, espacially when it comes to microbes or certain plants, where differences aren't that obvious.

The most common example of a scientificly correct name used as common name would be Escherichia Coli, as it is the 'pet' of almost every scientist.
