Carbon help?
• Can you give examples of carbon in our nonliving environment? • Can you give examples of carbon in our living environment?
carbon in nonliving can be on an airplane
can you explain how?
carbon is in diamonds and quartz
in the living environment is literally everything that is alive
Thanks
@Secret-Ninja Carbon is the fundamental building block atom of life. In fact, so much so that a whole field of chemistry is dedicated to the chemistry of carbon-based molecules—organic chemistry. In living, nearly every molecule in life has a carbon (it might be 100% have it but I think there are one or two exceptions). It is found in sugar, lipids, everything. No carbon=no life. The reason has to do with the number of bonds it can make. See it is equally "happy" to give up electrons or except them to get to a balanced state. Outside of life, it is found in rocks and minerals, the air, and more. These inorganic carbon containing compounds are the source for all carbon in living systems. Autotrophs can get their carbon from the carbon dioxide in the air, otherwise it has to be digested in some manner.
