(Medal and Fan.pleasee. major helpp meee :( please guysss pleaseee and a cookie. I'll give you a cookie!: ♥♥) 3. Which of the following are soluations to the inequality 2y+2<7 ? Mark all that solutions. a.2 b.0 c. -1 d. 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone please help me :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All of them. If you subract 2 from both sides of the equation, you get 2y<5. You can then divide both sides by 2 to get y<5/2. (since the sign is positive, you don't have to flip the inequality sign). This means that any y less than 5/2 will satisfy the inequality (5/2 is the same as 2.5) 2, 0, -1 and 1 are all less than 5/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh. okay. can I ask another question pretty please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer it though :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5. g+ 0.7 > 3.0 a. g > 3.7 b. g < 3.7 c. g > 2.3 d. g < 2. 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

g > 2.3 All you need to do on this one is isolate the g term, so subtract 0.7 from both sides of the inequality. 3.0 - 0.7 is 2.3 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay. :) I see. my I ask another one? if thats okay?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ask away!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay! :). t/-4 < (less than or equal to) 12 a. t < -3 b. t > -3 c. t < -48 d. t > -48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just to make sure I'm reading that right, is this what the equation looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t≥-48 What you need to do is multiply both sides by -4, which will give you -48 on the right side - and isolate the t term on the left. However, you need to be very careful when your multiplying or diving an inequality by a negative term, because the inequality sign will flip! So instead of ≤ on the expression at the beginning, it will turn into a ≥

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Imma write this all down so i can know :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are very smart ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have four more questions. if that's okay? ^_^♥

Here's a great webpage that goes over solving inequalities if you're interested! :) http://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/inequality-solving.html
