help (posting Q in the comments)

OpenStudy (_michaeld22):

I'll help if I can (:

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Which of the following is true about the atom shown? Choose all that apply. It is unstable. It is stable. It belongs to Group 10. It belongs to Group 18.

OpenStudy (_michaeld22):

I have no idea :/. Sorry lol, but shouldn't this be in Chemistry?

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

I know this is the Math section, but I really need help and nobody is Chem/Science.

OpenStudy (_michaeld22):

Ahh man :( I'm sure you'll find someone that actually knows what to do.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I wasn't good at Chem, so I might be wrong :/ http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Explain_what_determines_an_atom's_stability if it has 8 electrons in its outer ring, then it should be stable

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Do you know anybody who is Chem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey that's my favorite element Neon! 2 in the inner shell, 8 in the outer shell, that means it's a noble gas and doesn't bond with anything, and as jiggles stated, it is indeed stable because of those things

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The group answers if you didn't know, those are essentially just the columns, you start form left and go right, group 1, group 2, etc, so group 10 has nickel which means Neon, is in group 18, but that's such a vague thing to conclude

OpenStudy (i_love_my_nieces):

Thank @Embryo
