okay let's do this step by step
First thing you wanna do is square both sides
Do you know how to do that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It was 2 haha.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Help me with this?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
haha so im guessing you're okay with this question?
Do you understand how to do it? haha

No I don't understand how to do the one I just loaded..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay so i believe you have to multiply both sides by ln
The e^(ln) will cancel on left side while on the right side it will be ln3
Your answer will end up being
x = ln3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so to explain properly
ln*e^(lnx) will result in x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Do you remember what e =? isn't it 2.758 or something..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2.718!

yeah but you dont need to know that for this question
OpenStudy (anonymous):
e is just a variable :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So is the answer 3*ln?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1.10?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I believe so

Nope the answer was 3 lol.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol well dammit...wonder how.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (anonymous):
remember what happens when you multiply exponents?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No..

OpenStudy (anonymous):
you add exponents when it is in the form x^2 * x^3 which is x^5
notice it has to be the same base
now you multiply exponents when it is in the form (x^3)^2 which is x^6
so for this one it is (15^(1/7))^7 which is 15^((1/7)*7) = 15^(7/7) =?
what is the final answer?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
15? o.o
OpenStudy (anonymous):
good girk
OpenStudy (anonymous):
girl*.....
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Haha the answer is 15? That doesn't seem right..

It was haha:)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yay first correct answer!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Is this correct?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Or do I do the whole foil thing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
Or is it 3+9i?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
it isnt right
You do the distribution properly so
(3 - i)(1+5i)
3*1 + 5i*3 + (-i)*1 +(-i)*5i
3+15i - i - 5i^2
3+14i -5(-1)
5+3 + 14i
8 + 14i
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh yes yes.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol do you get it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes hahaha. but doesn't the last number become just a number without the i?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
nope because that i represents root(-1) which is invalid in an equation
Hence why the i has to be there
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think you have to use ln for this one...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So..
28^x = 7
ln 28^x = ln 7
x * ln28 = ln 7
x = ln (7/28)
x = ln 1/4
Try that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-1.39

OpenStudy (anonymous):
it isnt the answer? lol how many do you have?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No but I need help with this one and I have a lot haha....
OpenStudy (anonymous):
haha make this the last one?

Sure:)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol same thing as the one with the 15
8/8 simplifies to 1
your answer is 7
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you for all your help!:)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no problem:)
if you wanna go for one more
im happy to help

ok let's do this step by step
Square both sides
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x^2+4=9x+256???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
leave everything inside the square root the same
you got the left hand side right
so x^2 + 4 = 3x + 16
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now move all the values to the one side
so x^2 - 3x - 12
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now factor
remember the other side = 0

I don't know how to do that...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well I do I just can't remember.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay so what you see up there is not factorable
Hence we have to use the quadratic equation
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohhh okay..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ill get back to you on the answer

There are two answers...
Here:
5.27 and -2.27
I suggest asking someone to confirm this
