Use matrices to solve the system. 2x+3y=4 5x+8y=11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have the matrices set up. I don't know how to solve and my calculator isn't working for some reason.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

[2 3 5 8][x y]= [4 11]

@Melissy

OpenStudy (dan815):

use substituion or gauss jordan elimination

OpenStudy (dan815):

first write this in matrix form and do gauss jordan elimination, youtube GAUSS jordan elimination if you dont know how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im just going to use substitution. I don't have time to learn new techniques.

OpenStudy (dan815):

alright

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i can't even do that. I need to use matrices. Im so stressed out, this is so much to handle. Sorry. Just having a mental breakdown over this.

OpenStudy (dan815):

no chill out! its easier than you think

OpenStudy (dan815):

just wach some calming youtube videos on matrices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im trying. ok. My book gives a step by step ( i learned this and did amazing on it btw but i can not remember anything for ****) and i really don't understand it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dan can you help me set it up and work it out?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Gauss elimination with 2 equation in two unknowns will be exactly like elimination you learned in freshman math, just put matrix bars around it:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can anyone help?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

google row reduce echelon form,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay.
