Solve for v. p = mv A. m=v/p B.v=p/m C.v=m/p D.m=p/v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to divide m from both sides to get v by itself. you divide because m and v are connect through multiplication, so you must do the opposite. does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve for n. v=n/g A.n=v/g B. n = g/v C. n = v + g D. n = vg

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

multiply both sides by g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just told you how to do the other one. so, if n and g are connected through division, and you need to get n alone on the other side of the equal sign, do the opposite

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to do that..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So A. Right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you multiply both sides by g, it will look like this: (g)v=n/g(g) = vg=n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope. its not A

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

if you want to move something across the equal sign, you do the opposite. Example : x = a/b....and your looking for a.....it shows division, so do the opposite and multiply. xb = (a/b) * b....the b's cancel out on the right side xb = a Now if you have this.. xb = a and you want to find x.....it shows multiplication, so do division. divide both sides by b xb/b = a/b...the b's cancel out on the right side x = a/b understand ?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oops..the b's cancel out on the left side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I don't understnad at all

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

ok..let me try again opposite of division is multiplication opposite of multiplication is division opposite of addition is subtraction opposite of subtraction is division if you want to move something across the equal sign, you have to do the opposite of what is shown. a = bc...looking for c...it shows multiplication, so do division. a/b = bc/b..I divided by b, causing the b's on the right side to cancel. a/b = c a/b = c ... looking for a...it shows division, so multiply. b * a/b = b * c -- I multiplied both sides by b, causing the b's on the right side to cancel a = bc a + 2 = b...looking for a. It shows addition, so subtract a + 2 - 2 = b - 2...the 2's cancel out on the right side a = b - 2 a - 2 = b..looking for a. It shows subtraction, so add a - 2 + 2 = b + 2...b's cancel out a = b + 2 I do not know how to explain it any easier
