HELP PLEASE!! what is x and y?? x + 3y = 13 2x – 3y = –19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@undeadknight26

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

do you have any choices for the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah!! sorry

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Use your answer choices and plug them in for x and y and see which one makes the equations correct :D easiest way to do it :D

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

yeah ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A.) (-2, 5) B.) (-2, 4) c.) (4, -2) D.) (5, -6)

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

so plug in the numbers into each equation. the right answer will say 13=13 and -19=-19

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

^very smart person! Go with their answer :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok!! i will silly goose!!

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

*thumbs up*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lolz!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First solve for x. This will make x equal to an equation that has only y in it. The first equation solves to x=13-3y Place 13-y in all places that there is an x in the other equation. This comes to 2(13-y)-3y=-19 No you can solve for y and there will be no variable left over. Use that number to solve for x.

thanks!!
