is it B
could you explain to me why option 1 is correct?
H+ + 0H- ---> H20 neutralisation reaction, which means it reduces the contents in the product side, according to le chateliers principle, the forward reaction is favoured
which will make it dissolve more
Hydroxyapatite will be more soluble?
yes, Hydroxyapatite is the tooth enamel, so it dissolves reducing the enamel size
in the second equation PO4-3 will react with the proton
yes same way as itt is in first
which would decrease its concentration and when the concentration decrease equilbrium would shift to the right in the first equation
correct!
and more OH ions would be produced so how is this possible H+ + 0H- ---> H20
if the proton reacts with PO4-3 ion
h20 is produced not 0h
wht is da marking scheme answer
its B
ok
thank you :D
no probs:)
When the hydrogen ions react with PO4-3 Both concentrations decrease in equilbria 1 and therefore equilbrium shifts towards the right so more Hydroxide ions are produced my question here is on the way to make hydroxyapatite soluble, is it because in equilbrium reaction does not go to completion so some hydrogen ions react with hydroxide ions are neutralised by some H+ to form water causing hydroxyapatite to dissolve
the original question seems to be answered, open a new thread if you want to ask a new one.
can you look at my previous reply if its a correct explanation or not
i got class now, i'll look at it later
ok good luck with your class :)
yes thats right @Abmon98
