Why doesn't the amplitude affect speed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amplitude is the vertical displacement of the particles in the wave.so if amplitude increases the vibrations produced in the particles of the medium increases.so as the amplitude increases the intensity of sound increases(nothing but volume of sound).By increasing the volume of sound we increase the amplitude of sound by supplying more energy. Therefore the velocity of the sound does not depends on amplitude of sound.
