it needs m days for n workers to make p chairs. how many chairs 1 worker can make in 1 day? A. mnp B. mn/p C. mp/n D. np/m E. p/mn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 can you help me with this?

OpenStudy (harsha19111999):

4 th one

OpenStudy (harsha19111999):

how means multiply mn can produce p chairs while 1*1 can produce X chairs X=p/mn

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

m days ------ n workers ------- p chairs

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

m days ------ 1 worker -------- p/n chairs 1 day --------1 worker --------- p/(mn) chairs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @Harsha19111999 !!

OpenStudy (harsha19111999):

No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yw :) notice that the number of chairs you can produce will reduce if any of the two variables are decreased - days / workers

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

which also makes sense intuitively - if u have fewer days, u can produce fewer chairs only if u have fewer workers, u can produce fewer chairs only

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\(\large \text{# of chairs } \propto \text{ # of days}\) \(\large \text{# of chairs } \propto \text{ # of workers}\)
