Using complete sentences, explain how to find the average rate of change for f(x) from x = 4 to x = 7.

its 4(x+2)^2-3 and 4x^2+16x+13

rise over run, so you get change in y over change in x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what y is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug the x values into your function, then subtract the second one from the first then divide that by 7-4....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't 4x^2+16x+13 your function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like f(x)=4x^2+16x+13? cause if you aren't given your function you can't find the answer for that.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically sub 4 and 7 into the x values for that function, then subtract the value you got for 4 from the value you got for 7, and then divide that by 3
