What are stimuli, recpetors and impulses? Thanks :)

OpenStudy (zale101):

A stimuli is a change that disturbs response through specific sensory organs. Example: touching a hot pan then immediately pulling a way. The hot pan is the stimuli and the response is when puling away. Receptors responds to a stimuli by having an effect between chemicals in the nervous tissues and the response. Example: Sensory neurons carry information from the sensory receptor cells. An impulse is a what transmits electrochemicals through nerve fiber to create a response at a some tissue.

Thank you Zale101! So stimuli is a change not a reaction correct? And a receptor is like "reciever"?

OpenStudy (matt101):

Yup - a stimulus is something that causes a reaction, like heat or light, but is not the reaction itself. A receptor is exactly like a receiver - it's usually a protein that senses a particular stimulus, and it's what begins the reaction.
