OpenStudy (elise_a18):

Why do some people say "favourite" instead of "favorite" or "colour" instead of "color"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Depends on where you're from. I say "favourite" and "colour" because I'm from Europe and that's typically how it's spelled here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesn't it pronounce the same e way thoe no biggie depends on your country too @avalena

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@seerena Yes, it's pronounced the same. Just spelled differently. Doesn't really matter though; you get your point across just fine whether you take a "u" out of a word or not.

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

Well i'm just curious what it's spelled differently but means the same thing..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Elise_a18 Languages evolve over time and vary depending on location. The English language has a long history and is spoken all over the world.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

indeed but in conclusion it means the same

OpenStudy (secret66):

American = favorite and color British/Canadian = favourite and colour Both are correct :P But in America, we usually drop the "u" as in flavour.

OpenStudy (elise_a18):

i see, I was jus curious :) thanks!
