How do I do this? Do not give me the answer. There are 8.45 × 10^5 registered voters in a certain town. Half of those people are expected to vote in the upcoming election. How many people are expected to vote in the upcoming election? A. 4.225 × 10^2 people B. 4.225 × 10^3 people C. 4.225 × 10^4 people D. 4.225 × 10^5 people

Miracrown (miracrown):

So, let's try something similar, but with smaller numbers. Let's say that we had 10 registered votes, and half of them were expected to vote. How many would that be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5.

Miracrown (miracrown):

Right, and we can get that by multiply 10 by 1/2 because that is how we figure out what half of a number is. By multiply it by 1/2 So we just need to do the same thing for 8.45X10^5 we need to multiply it by 1/2 So what would 1/2 x 8.45 x 10^5 be?

Miracrown (miracrown):

=422500, right? So which one of the answers is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D? @Miracrown

Miracrown (miracrown):

Yes, good job! =)

@Miracrown

OpenStudy (shamim):
