factorise these polynominals 1. p(x)=4x-x^3 2. q(x)=2x^4 +12x^3-8x^2-48x Please Help due for tuesday :(

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the 1st one... take x out as a common factor... \[P(x) = x(4 - x^2) \] you need to factor \[4-x^2\] which is the difference of 2 squares.. for question 2 group in pairs 1st \[q(x) = (2x^4 -8x^2) + (12x^3 - 48x)\] factor the brackets and you get \[q(x) = 2x^2(x^2 - 4) + 12x(x^2 - 4)\] which becomes \[q(x) = (2x^2 + 12x)(x^2 - 4)\] to finish you need to remove a common factor from \[2x^2 + 12x\] and factor \[x^2 - 4\] which is the difference of 2 squares hope it helps

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Also, \(\normalsize\color{midnightblue}{ (2x^2+12x) }\) can be factored out of \(\normalsize\color{midnightblue}{ 2x }\) to make the factorization complete.

thank you (:

number 2 i got q(x)= 2x(x+6) (x+2) (x-2)
