I have to demonstrate what I have learned about the properties of water by designing and conducting an experiment that examines one of water’s properties. But i have no idea what experiment to do. It has to be testable. Any suggestions?
um u can take a penny and a dropper and try to get as many drops on top of the penny until the bubble on top of the penny bursts to c how many u can put
@sunshao1 That is a property of all liquids, not just water. @harlie_paige Water is pretty unique. It expands, not shrinks when very cold, it can be an acid or a base (in the same solution), it dissolves both polar and non-polar substances, it can become superchilled or superheated. Superchilled is cool. Sometimes you can get that in your freezer. A bottle of water that isn't ice but when you shake it instantly starts to freeze. I have a video of me pouring some water that was freezing as it poured.
@Harlie_paige You need to be very careful. We are not really sure why it occurs, but it seems that if you put an already cold thing of water into the freezer and do not disturb it, it is the best chance at having it occur. This is why some people say hot water freezes faster. BS in my opinion. Not really a fair statement. It would be more accurate to say that hot water is not as likely to become superchilled and will therefore freeze, why sometimes cold water will superchill and remain liquid until disturbed. It seems that the natural convection currents in hot water help the water stay mixed and not become superchilled.
