how do i calculate how much material do i require from a chemical formula? if say to formulate 1kg of Na2SO4

OpenStudy (abhisar):

\(\boxed{\boxed{\boxed{\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}\\\color{white}{.}\\\Huge\color{blue}{\mathfrak{~~~~Welcome~to~OpenStudy!~\ddot\smile}}\\\color{white}{.}\\\\\Huge{\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}\color{orange}{\bigstar}\color{red}{\bigstar}\color{blue}{\bigstar}\color{green}{\bigstar}\color{yellow}{\bigstar}}}}}\)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

u know the balanced reaction for the formation of Na2SO4 ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

2NaOH + H2SO4 ------> Na2SO4 + 2H2O

OpenStudy (abhisar):

This means that 2 moles of NaOH and 1 mole of H2SO4 is required for the formation of 2 moles of Na2SO4

OpenStudy (abhisar):

which in turn means that 80g of NaOH and 98g of H2SO4 is required for the formation of 142 g Na2SO4

OpenStudy (abhisar):

got it ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Now by applying unitary method u can easily calculate the amount needed to formulate 1 kg of Na2SO4

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Is everything clear ? I am waiting for ur response.

OpenStudy (somy):

When people are trying to help you out, respond and cooperate with them so that you can understand what they are trying to explain. He could have just stopped explaining you know, but he still kept explaining though you are not cooperating. That's kinda not really nice of you... but if you are posting a question and though we see you viewing it while you are actually not there for some reason, then at least tell or just go offline better so that the person who is trying to explain and help you out does not feel bad and ignored. @desmondkang

Hi Abhisar and Somy, thanks so much for the answers and apologies really, didn't mean not to reply, but i was away from the computer. But thanks abhisar, that helped me understand it alot better!
