The closer to the equator you travel, the plants become shorter and more sparsely dispersed. True or false?
Compare tundra (far away from the equator) to rainforest (much of the tropics near the equator). The sweeping generalities this question make should be acknowledged. I can think of places very near the equator (i.e., the Sahara desert) where extreme local condition such as lack of water make plants very sparse and stunted indeed.
@Kainui
