Is it likely that Si and P would substitute for each other in a solid solution? Someone please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Si and P are next to each other on the periodic table, but one is a metalloid and the other is a non metal so thats why I am not sure.

the column orders seem important to me for substitution.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

interactions seem dependant on the number of electrons in the outershell .

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but thats just my guess at this from a faulty memory :)
