Can someone please check my answer? It is an easy question. Thanks! Also, look at the graph along with the problem. For the next three questions, use the stem-and-leaf plot below. What is the mode of the data? 316 331 302 No mode It is 316 What is the range of the data? 3.3 33.3 33 3 It is 33 What is the median of the data? 316 315 313 314 It is 314 Can you help me @jim_thompson5910? Thanks!

OpenStudy (beccab003):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

316 happens 3 times, the most frequent, so yes it is the mode

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

range = max - min range = 335 - 302 range = 33 so that looks good too

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

314 is the middle most value, so all 3 answers look correct

OpenStudy (beccab003):

Thanks Jim. Can you help me with one more question?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sure one more

OpenStudy (beccab003):

Weston asked 20 of his friends, “Are you going skiing this weekend?” Eight of the 20 said yes, they are going skiing. What would be the best estimate for the population mean? 40 8 0.4 0.8

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm something seems really odd about this problem I'm not sure what

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but I think something is missing

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I guess you could say 8/20 = 0.40 but that's not really a population mean or a sample mean

OpenStudy (beccab003):

I know. I couldn't figure out what this one meant. I am taking a geometry course but in the last section they've added a whole bunch of statistics for me to learn. Not cool. I really appreciate your help and I won't be bugging you much longer because I am almost done with the course and will be taking the final exam for it on Monday. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your help and I won't be bothering you with questions for much longer.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah sometimes courses throw in strange material that doesn't really fit, oh well

OpenStudy (beccab003):

Thanks again! You have been the one who has helped me the most on openstudy and I really appreciate it. It will only be today and tomorrow that I will be needing more of your help. Thanks so much! You're the best!!! :D

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
