Explain how to get the product of 2 times the square root of 5 and 4 times the square root of 10 .

calculator

I need to explain it in words. ^

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

I would say that the product of 2\sqrt{5} is found by taking two roots of 5 and adding them together twice, so sqrt(5) + sqrt(5). And similarly for 4 sqrt(10). Not sure if that would be the best answer though. :)

^Thank you for trying.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jtvatsim , how would you get 4 sqrt 10 ?

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

sum sqrt(10) four times :) sqrt(10) + sqrt(10) + sqrt(10) + sqrt(10). I admit that's a pretty boring way to do it.

OpenStudy (jtvatsim):

I mean, in reality, I would use a calculator as one of the other answers said, but if we are forced to explain... that's essentially what a calculator would do I believe.

Thank you :)
