Muzzack how'd you get 3x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-9x-6x same sign so add right?....

OpenStudy (muzzack):

when you have a number thats negative whats the opposite of negative

OpenStudy (muzzack):

so i added 9 to both sides

OpenStudy (muzzack):

whats 9-6

OpenStudy (muzzack):

3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get that 9-6=3 but what I don't get is -9x-6x is same sign so we add -9-6 = -15...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think what he is trying to say is that two negatives make a positive. Am i correct??
