OpenStudy (morganmay19):

write each polynomial as the product of its common factor and its remaining terms. 5x(3x+1)+7(3x+1) and -3x^3+12x^2+36x

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well in the 1st case you have (3x + 1) as a common factor so you have (3x + 1)(5x + 7)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

for the 3nd equation factor out -3x and you get \[-3x( x^2 -4x -12)\] the quadratic equation in brackets can now be factored
