@LifeEngineer help ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
alright,
so when you have a power raised to a power, to simplify you can simply multiply the two powers together. ex: (x^2)^6 =x^(2*6)=x^12
similarly, (x^2)^-1 = x^(-1*2)=x^-2 (which is the same thing as if you'd just inverted x^2)
the trick with this question is the parentheses. what would those mean if you want to simplify the -3 power?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Umm

@LifeEngineer its asking what he did wrong though
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@joquez14 i tagged you to see if you can figure it out & help
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right, and he did not carry out the -3 exponent on the coefficient of 4. he only applied it to z^8 when he should have applied it to both!
