If the nucleotide sequence of a strand of DNA is CTAA, what is the nucleotide sequence on its complementary strand? A. CTAA B. GATT C. GAUU D. TCGG

OpenStudy (abhisar):

A combines with T G combines with C

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Now can u find the answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Then the answer will be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

its B

OpenStudy (abhisar):

BINGO !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@turtlederp034 Don't forget that the complimentary strand is anti-parallel. So, for one strand we have 5' to 3' and the strand underneath is 3' to 5'.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yes u r ryt @mrdoldum ! \(\color{green}{\huge\ddot\smile}\)

Technically since DNA should always be written 5' to 3' the answer is not up there. This is hair splitting point, but when you get to university level biology it matters. We catch a lot of students in the lab with this.
