The position of an object at time t is given by s(t) = -9 - 5t. Find the instantaneous velocity at t = 4 by finding the derivative.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So the derivative of \[\large s(t) = -9 - 5t\] The derivative of a constant is 0...and a term with a variable is just the term...so we have \[\large s'(t) = -5\] this shows that the instantaneous velocity at ANY time will be -5

You're amazing! Thank you so much!
