any answer choices

It can depending on whether it is a prokaryote or a eukaryote, both of which can be unicellular. The majority of prokaryotes are unicellular, but there are some multicellular prokaryotes. Eukaryotes can be unicellular or multicellular. Prokaryotes do not have a true nucleus, they have a nucleoid which is basically a naked DNA loop. On the other hand, Eukaryotes do have a true nucleus. This is but one of the differences between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes. Prokaryotes would include bacteria like E.coli. Eukaryotes would include Amoebas, plants, animals, etc.

@bookworm A lot of scientist do not feel there are true multicellular prokaryotes, just colonial prokaryotes. The nucleoid is not basically a loop, it is literally a single looped (circular) chromosome that is kept roughly in the center of the cell. The major focus for differenences between prokaryotes (Domains Bacteria and Archaea) and the domain Eukaryota is that the prokaryotes lack membrane bound organelles. So, there is no nucleus, mitochondria, or chloroplasts in the prokaryotes.

@lucerog the second paragraph was for you.
