Can anyone give me a good way to approach doing research for finding the sociocultural, religious, and historical background needed to start a project that would be realistic and based on fact, even though the story is fiction? I really need ideas of how to approach these very complex and deep subjects without spending 5 years researching just to start writing a story...
Technically for learning about the important aspects of each of the subjects that would be good to learn for story telling... I hope this question makes sense!
so you're trying to make a fiction story based from facts? that's great!, Like Dan Brown (one of my favorite authors). I think you should decide what will be your story is about, what kind of information do you have to gather, what particular subject you have to focus on, what significance the information has to do with the story and how will it affect the readers. lol, i don't think i answered you're question but anyway goodluck!
Thanks @Data_LG2, I agree. The storyline is very complicated involving many characters and idea/concepts that are not really scientific or even possible probably. I like to use science to really make these ideas seem possible, and base them on facts in reality so that there is believability/credibility to them. Like I need to create my own civilizations, cultures, religions, and have them be different than all of ours here - but they also need to be very realistic so that the characters and readers will be like "That is totally possible!!". I am having trouble figuring out which parts of which subjects I should research and study before starting to develop my ideas so the development can be done in association with a good understanding of how these things actually work! It is going to be so sick!
