3. Use the figure of a square pyramid to answer the following questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am going to draw the square pyramid really quick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the total surface area? What is the volume?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Do you know what the formula is for surface area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i think it is SA = 2bs * b^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just use the formula and plug in the variables, so SA=2(10)(13)*(10)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sa={130(2)}*100 SA=260*100 SA=26000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks! how would I find the volume?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe that answer is wrong however, shouldn't it be equal to 360?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For surface area? I don't believe that it will always equal 360, this is a three dimensional object and its area and surface area are completely different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes but I used an online calculator and each time the total surface area of the object equal 360 cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! my bad i think that the formula may have been incorrect, shouldn't it be SA=2bs+b^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha its ok :) well then a correction to the work would have been 260+100 which indeed equals 360

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

Volume = 1/3* b^2* h V = 1/3 * 10^2 * 12 V = 1/3 * 100 * 12 V = 1/3 * 1200 V = 1200/3 V = 400
