The city calls its summer festival Strawberry Days. What kind of complement are the words in bold?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which words are in bold?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Strawberry days

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Subject complement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nah it has be predicate nominative, predicate adjective, dirtect objective or objective complement

OpenStudy (larseighner):

I suppose from the choices it must be an objective complement. But I am more literal, so I would call it a direct object.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG ty you so much

Some families prepare their ancestors’ ceremonial food. What is the indirect object?

OpenStudy (larseighner):

There is not one. "Their ancestors’ ceremonial food" contains only one noun. That is the direct object. There is no other noun to be an indirect object. Phil gave his father dinner has two nouns, so one of them can be an indirect object.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct. Had it been ancestors (simply just a noun), rather than ancestors' (showing ownership), the ceremonial food would have been the indirect object.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just did this and got it wrong, it is not the direct object. Just thought I would let others know so they don't get it wrong.
