Which line provides an example of an antagonist? I gave Beth the poster boards she needed, knowing it would cost me a decent grade. Bonnie gave the best presentation of the entire class to no one's surprise. Callie stared at me, daring me to make a mistake, willing me to let her win. Harrison was the best friend a boy could ever want even when he was beating me at cards.
i picked a
Can you explain why? Or just a hunch?
well i am posting the ones im not sure of and needed a second thought before sending the assignment in so it was a guess
Well, I would choose C. Because the antagonist is the bad guy, they aren't all that nice, and the character in that choice doesn't seem friendly right?
um well kinda
The conflict of a literary work is called the agon. Usually there are two parties to the agon: the protAGONist and the antAGONist. The protagonist is the hero, good guy, main character of the work. The antagonist is who or what opposes him. Frankly, it is not common to say a sentence has an antagonist. But if so, you should be able to identify the agon and the protagonist so you can be sure you have identified the antagonist correctly.
so b then ?
It could be, but it depends if the main character's goal was to beat this "Bonnie" character for the best presentation.
I would still root for C., but just pick what you are most sure of.
well there is no story behind this if that is what your saying that is the only thing they provided me with
which was just that quesion
I do not see any conflict expressed in B. No agon: no antAGONist.
so it is c correct becaause she is opposing her
I think so. We do not know exactly what the conflict is about but it is me (protAGONist) against Callie (antAGONist) to win some contest (AGON).
I agree.
thank you for the explanation very detailed :)
