Find the missing side length for c and the missing angle measures for a and b in the image above. Write a paragraph telling how you found the missing values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the Pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya a squared + b squared = c squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup that one a^2 + b^2 = c^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this triangle is "Isosceles Right Triangle"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1 squared + 1 squared = c squared and then 1 + 1 = c squared 2= c squared 1.4 = c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c = 1.41 units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, now how do i find the a and b measures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok for angles you must know sum of all angles = 180 we know its Isosceles Right Triangle, so it has a right angle (90°), and also two equal angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180 = a+b+90

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so each a & b will be 45 each

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's just 180= 45+45+90?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got it right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

always welcome Izzy :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you help me on another? @annas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm ok I'll try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the missing side length for c and the missing angle measures for a and b in the image above. Write a paragraph telling how you found the missing values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same procedure :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its again Isosceles Right Triangle so angle a & b will be 45 again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so should i calculate the square root of 3 first? then do that in the pythagorean thm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1)^2 + (under-root(3))^2 = c^2 we know in under-root power is equal to 1/2 (1)^2 + ((3)^1/2)^2 = c^2 1/2 x 2 = 1 thats a law of power so 1 + 3 = c^2 c = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I hope I explained well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and after that i just say that a and b are 45? to make the 45 + 45 + 90 = 180? and yes you explained that very clearly! thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup thats correct :) oh thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright thank you so much you've helped me a ton!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D ah no you are pretty smart yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just guided you :))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay see ya!
