Which of the following statements is not true for Coulomb's law? A. The electric force depends partly on the amount of charge. B. The force will decrease if the distance is decreased. C. The electric force depends on both amount of charge and distance between them D. Doubling one of the charges will double the force if the distance remains constant.

Coulomb's law is given by this equation: \[F= k _{e}q _{1}q _{2}/r ^{2}\] so as you can see the relation between the force F and the distance r is inversely proportional

i dont get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This means that the Electric force decreases when the square of the distance increase

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the equation we can see also that the force depends on the charge (q) and the amount of charge is directly proportional with the force. means that increasing/decreasing the amount of charge will increase/decrease the electric force. so (A),(C), and (D) is true.

got it?
