Just a small question. If I am using a quadratic formula, and the last term is not there would the discriminant be b^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The discriminant is b^2-4ac

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know but considering that c is not there it would be equal to 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[b ^{2}-4ac\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean the c is not there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like if I have x^2+8x would that just be 64?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, in that case, I believe the c term is 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you!
