need help with factoring

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what value in place of the question mark ,makes the polynomial factor a perfect square x^2+12x+?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the coefficient of x^2 is 1 then you add the square of one half the coefficient of x to make a perfect square. For example, given x^2 + 12x you must add 6^2, getting x^2 + 12x + 6^2 = (x+6)^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be (x+6)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got some more ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok next then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the graph of x^2+12x+6 can be obtained from the graph of y=x^2 by A.shifting it 6 units to the right and 30 units down B.shifting it 6 units to the left and 30 units up C.shifting it 6 units to the left and 30 units down D.shifting it 6 units to the right and 30 units up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry dont know this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the polynomial 3x^2-147 has the factorization A.3(x-7)^2 B.3x(x-49) C.(3x-7)(3x+7) D.3(x-7)(x+7)
