Well are you good at the Odyssey kinds of questions because that's the unit I'm on and my class didn't give me the time to read the book and it's all due soon :p
well ill still help you
Well the next lovely question is Who says the following and why? "That's why noble Eurytus died a sudden death: no old age, creeping upon him in his halls . . . Apollo shot him down, enraged that the man had challenged him, the Archer God." * Demodocus is warning Broadsea to not anger "god-like" Odysseus. Demodocus is warning Odysseus to temper his ego so he does not anger the gods. Odysseus is teaching Broadsea an important lesson in humility. Odysseus is remembering not to boast too much and is showing reverence to the gods. (in book 8) I'm trying to find an online version of the odyssey that isn't just a summary so I you could help with that instead so I can try more to answer them myself that'd be wonderful :)
welll im back again
I think it was Demodocus
yeah Demodocus said it
Do you know why? :p
the answer is B
anymore?
At the beginning of the games, Alcinous boasts that Phaeacians "excel the world / at boxing, wrestling, jumping, speed of foot" (8, 120-121).* After the games, however, he says something different. What does Alcinous claim the Phaeacians are best at? Select all that apply. wrestling boxing dancing discus racing singing
Dancing
thats it
What three plans do the Trojans have regarding the horse? 1. Burn it. 2. Run it through with weapons. 3. Roll it into the sea. 4. Cast it off a cliff. 5. Let it stand as a tribute to the gods.
2,4, and 5 :)
Who says the following and why? Hear me, my lords and captains of Phaeacia! Let Demodocus rest his ringing lyre now— this song he sings can hardly please us all. * Odysseus is pleading with his hosts to stop the song. It is too sorrowful. Odysseus is unimpressed with Demodocus's skills as a bard. Alcinous is halting the song because Odysseus is crying—again. Alcinous is hungry and is tiring of song.
im sorry, i forgot this one :(
lemme check online ok?
sry didn't work
It's alright and that's fine, I'll just guess on that one lol
True or False Phaeacian ships steer themselves.
Phaeacian ships have no helmsman or steering oar, for the ships themselves know our thoughts and wishes, and the cities of men, every fertile country, and hidden by mist and cloud they speed over the sea's wide gulf, and never fear damage or shipwrec
The ships know the thoughts and wishes? Sounds creepy lol
lol
How long have you been on open study?
Like how many hours today or how long in total I've had an openstudy account? xP
how long have u had one
I'm not even sure, a couple weeks maybe
ive only been on for lik 5 days i think idk
Oh aha nice, btw I have like 1 more question but it's like a writing question xc From what Alcinous says about Phaeacia's ships, is there any chance that they will fail to get Odysseus home? How do you know? Answer in complete sentences.
Leader and Counsellors of the Phaeacians, listen while I speak as my feelings prompt me. This stranger, whose name I do not know, has come to my house in his travels from east or west. He asks for his passage home, and seeks our confirmation. Let us further his going, as with others in the past. For no one who comes to my house waits here long, grieving for lack of help. So, let us run a black ship down to the glittering waves for her maiden voyage, and choose fifty-two young men from the town, who have proved themselves before. And when they have duly lashed the oars in place, come ashore quickly to my house and ready a feast: I will provide enough for all. These are my orders for the crew, and you sceptered Princes come on now to the fair palace, and let us entertain the stranger there: let no one refuse
