People will start to listen when they realize they are being suspended.

if you want to get technical...I'm game. Poetry and music lyrics are one in the same so that Nerfs that rule. Talking about composition of lyrics is also another technical form of poetry so no then that shouldn't be on here either. The rules are so messy that no one really knows how to actually stay within guidelines.

The group name is "Music" not "Music theory"

@Blink-182 it is like how Physics questions go in the "Physics" group and Geometry questions go in the "Mathematics" group even though they both involve numbers and calculations there is a fine line, yes. But poems are better off discussed among the literature groups for better answers and better help. just as physics questions should be asking in the physics group rather than the math group to get better answers and help. it is a topic on how to ensure our askers get the best help, not really whether or not it is music or music theory I know for one that most of the music helpers here have the music ears to give sound critiques and such, but lack the literature understanding to discuss poems and such.

@LyricalDevonne thank you for your input, and I am not the one enforcing the rules post what you want, but if a mod goes on a closing spree I want you kids to know why

Blink-182 'The group name is "Music" not "Music theory"' And your point is what? They mean Music as in the academic department at a university. Music covers a very specific range of things in an educational context. Did you read the Terms and Conditions, or at least the Code of Conduct? The intent of the site is very clear. Every educational subject listed is to be seen from the point of view of that intent.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@Blink-182 Here is the original rules post when the group was made two years ago: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4f9035b8e4b000310fae4570 That has them laid out by two of the site administrators. As you can see, they were very clear on the intent of this group. What they don't state is why they named it Music rather than Music Theory. However, if you look at the Mathematics group, you see the same thing. Calling it the Algebra group would be too limiting and pointless. They called this Music because it covers musical theory, instruments, original works, and similar topics that you would find in an educational setting. As the admins said, "We set the ground rules out clearly because it's easy to misinterpret the music group as something that isn't focused on learning, but it *is* focused on learning." They even went further with the statement that, "If they feel the CoC is stifling their creativity, they can go elsewhere. Music group isn't exactly what this site is built for anyway." Thus, they are also clear that if you do not feel you can work within these limits, you need to find another site for your rap battles, etc.
