Determine which measure of central tendency is the greatest for the following set of data? 3, 5, 2, 7, 7, 1, 8, 7 Mode Median Mean Outlier

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

help @cwrw238

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

please

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

google 'measures of central tendency'

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

thanks @cwrw238 but stick around it might not help too much

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

it did not help

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

well the outlier is not a measure of central tendency what is the mode in your set of numbers? (the number that occurs most)

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

7 @cwrw238

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right taht was easy - and how do you work out the mean? (the average of the set of numbers)

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

5 @cwrw238

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right and the median is the middle value when the numbers are arranged in ascending order. I there are 2 middle values you take the mean of these 2 values so we have 1 2 3 5 7 7 7 8 what are the 3 middle values ?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

* 2 middle values

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

(5+7)/2=6 @cwrw238 now what

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

right so we have mean = 5 median = 6 mode = 7 and the questions aks what is the greatest of these measures ??

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

mode thanks i have a few more if you are up for it

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no more thanks i gotta go

OpenStudy (mlgpro):

bye
