Please Help!! Let u = <-3, -5>, v = <-3, 1>. Find u + v.
u=-4
Vector addition, right? to find the vector sum of u and v, add together the x-comps of u and v and then add together the y-comps. Know what to do next?
Not sure what yu mean by u=-4. u and v are vectors, each with an x- and a y-component. Thus, u=-4 has no meaning.
i have no clue, this is a foreign language to me
i didn't understand the lesson at all
You are studying vectors, right? What's the name of your course? Where are you expected to get your course material information (from a book, from online reading material, from doing Internet searches, or what)?
What does 'vector' mean to you?
flvs, A vector is a directed line segment.
hold on, i have to go feed my animals

Adding vectors is easy. Take two vectors each with two components, \(\vec{u}=\langle a_1,b_1\rangle\) and \(\vec{v}=\langle a_2,b_2\rangle\). Vector addition can be broken down into the addition of each vector's components: \[\vec{u}+\vec{v}=\langle a_1+a_2,b_1+b_2\rangle\]
so (-3+-3,-5+1)?
Yep, easy as that. Simplify and you get the answer.
oh my gosh, that was so simple!! Thank you sooooo much!!
omg i looked up how to do another one and i found you on yahoo answers @SithsAndGiggles
