A grey turtle lays an average of 10 eggs. If the number of eggs laid never varies from the average by more than five, what is the least number of eggs that would be laid by six turtles? 10 eggs 30 eggs 50 eggs 60 eggs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60 eggs. Since the equation of the problem is ... 6 x 10 = the number of eggs. average is taking the number and dividing it by the # of objects that are participating in the problem. so you're just reversing the problem.

OpenStudy (nikato):

I thought it would be 30. A turtle can lay no more than 5 from the average which is 10. And since you're finding the least so 10-5 which is 5 So the least number of eggs a turtle can lay is 5 Multiply by 6 So 30 eggs
